Most people can leave these as they are — Tropical Zodiac and Placidus Houses is the usual default setting in Western astrology. Jyotish charts always use the Sidereal Zodiac — that's what distinguishes Vedic astrology from Western. Lahiri is the most widely used ayanamsha and the default here; Fagan-Bradley is offered as an alternative. North Indian: a fixed diamond, houses always in the same place and signs rotating around it. South Indian: a fixed 4×4 grid, signs always in the same place and houses rotating instead. Numbers are the traditional North Indian convention; glyphs are traditional for South Indian — either works with either layout. Off by default — the traditional Navagraha is the nine classical bodies (Sun through Saturn, plus Rahu/Ketu) with no outer planets at all. Not used when birth time is unknown — Whole Sign with Aries rising is used instead. No real house system is calculated — House 1 is fixed at 0° Aries regardless of the actual Ascendant. The chart itself is still cast for the exact birth time entered, so the real Ascendant and Midheaven are still computed and shown as usual — only the houses are this fixed convention. Uncheck Angles in Selected Points below if you'd rather leave them off. True Node is the default here. Switch to Mean Node to match sources — astro.com among them — that use that convention instead; the two can differ by a degree or more. The major and minor aspects below are shown by default. Quintile, Septile and Novile are off by default — each one turns on its WHOLE harmonic family, not just the single angle named: Quintile is 72° and 144° (biquintile), Septile is 51°26′, 102°51′ and 154°17′, and Novile is 40°, 80° and 160°. Orb, in degrees — how close two points need to be to still count as forming the aspect. One number per family covers every angle in it. Everything checked here is drawn on the wheel and included in the aspect list; uncheck anything to leave it off the chart entirely — the ten planets, both lunar nodes and the chart angles are checked by default, Chiron, Lilith and the four major asteroids are off by default. Lilith and the asteroids are always held to a 2° aspect orb, tighter than whatever's set above in Aspects shown & orbs, regardless of that setting. Angles (Ascendant & Midheaven) only appear when a birth time is known, whatever house system is chosen — this just lets you leave them off deliberately. Off by default. Tick Show fixed stars to include the 74 fixed stars (the 73 traditional stars plus Acrux): those conjunct a chart point are marked on the wheel, and they and the stars in paran with your planets at the birth latitude are listed under the chart. Western natal charts only. Stars in use : untick any star to leave it off the wheel and out of the tables. Relate this chart to a second moment in time — today's transits, where your progressed planets have moved to, a solar arc direction, or a solar return for a given year — or read it as a lifetime on A.T. Mann's Life Time Scale. Solar Return needs a real birth time to anchor its own houses and angles to — it isn't available for a chart cast with "Time unknown". The Life Time Scale is measured from the Ascendant, so it needs a birth time. To rectify an uncertain time, enter your best estimate and adjust it with the scale's own controls. A.T. Mann's logarithmic time scale: the chart read as a lifetime, from conception (240° before the Ascendant) through birth (the Ascendant) to old age. Includes an AGE/DATE line you can drag, and birth-time rectification controls. Cast at noon, local time at your birth place. The list appears below your birth chart, sorted chronologically, with the exact time of each aspect. (Same start-date-plus-period control as the Graphic Ephemeris tool.) Your chart's own zodiac is already sidereal, so this setting has no effect -- it only changes anything when the chart is displayed in the tropical zodiac. Recommended and on by default: the return's houses and angles are cast for where you are now (or plan to be) rather than your birth place, if the two differ. The return MOMENT itself doesn't depend on location — only the wheel's houses do. This is what will be used to calculate your chart. Casting your chart… Something went wrong while casting the chart.
